It’s that time of year when we bundle up to stay warm and no one bares their legs for months to come. Although, you won’t be wearing shorts anytime soon, it’s still important to keep up with your waxing routine throughout the winter. You may not be aware, but waxing your legs does more than make them hair-free. It also is important to your skin health.
Waxing acts as an exfoliator, removing dead skin cells. The new layer of skin left behind is ready to absorb those nourishing lotions you apply. It’ll help your legs maintain that smooth, glow that you achieved in the summertime. But, be sure to still exfoliate with a cream to get the most out of waxing.
If you skip waxing in the winter, your efforts in the summer will be wasted. You’ll notice after you skip waxing for a while, that the next time you do it, it’ll be as painful as the very first time you waxed. The reason being is that more hair has time to grow back, which means more pain in removing it all. Also, when you wax, it leads to your hair growing back lighter and finer. If you stop waxing it’ll begin to grow back thicker again – especially if you begin to shave during those months.
However, you’ll be happy to hear that hair tends to grow slower in the winter time. Your pores are more closed due to the cold air causing hair growth to slow down. That means in the winter you can go a little longer in between waxes. Instead of scheduling your waxes as you would in the summertime, pay attention to the length of your hair. Wait until it reaches proper length for removal, at least an 1/8 of an inch.
Keep on top of your waxing routine this winter. Your legs will continue to be silky, smooth with healthy skin that is ready to tackle the driest months of the year.
