Easy Hair Hacks You Can Do At Home

March 29 2016

I don’t know about you, but the team here at Salon D’Artiste is more than ready to be done with winter. Time to move on, and as they say, sometimes a change is as good as a holiday. With that in mind, here are some simple changes you can make to your hairstyle that may help you feel that winter is finally in your rear view mirror. Probably the simplest upgrade you can do for your do is to go brushless during your blow out. Rather than fumble with dryer, mirror and round brush, just use your fingers. Use a heat protector on damp hair, and then use your fingers to create tension as you blow dry. This technique will let your natural texture come through. For more body, you can also apply a root-lifter before drying. Instead of a ponytail, go for a loop. Blow out your hair as usual, and apply serum from mid-shaft down to the ends. Pull all of your hair back as if starting to make a pony, but don’t pull it all the way through. Then, grab a small section of hair from the loop and wrap it around the elastic band. Secure it in place with a pin. You’ll have a sleek, classic look that’s a nice change from your standard ponytail. Another easy ponytail knock off is the braided bun. Use a thickening mousse, and pull your hair up into a high pony. Braid the tail and tie off the end with a small elastic. Loosen it up a bit and then wrap it around the first elastic and pin in place. It’s so simple to do and looks much fresher than a mainstream high pony. Shaking off the lingering winter doldrums is easy to do. For more fresh ideas, the styling team here at Salon D’Artiste can help you find the look that’s just right.
