Great Trending Hairstyles for Fall

August 14 2016

It’s the middle of August, and that means it’s high time you started thinking about what to do with your hair for fall. It’s an opportunity to try out something new in between the hedonism of summer and the full-on holiday routine the kicks off the winter season. Here are a few ideas from this year’s Fall Fashion Week to get you started. Salvatore Ferragamo went with the tried and true adage that less is often more. Simple low ponies held in place with a black hair tie managed to walk the line between youthful and elegant. Christian Dior and Valentino went a step further with riffs on the bun from the classic ballerina to a double twist to that great standby, the messy bun. Volume was on display as well as Gucci used a lot of backcombing, setting naturally curly hair free to do what it wants, and crimping otherwise straight hair. On the other end of the spectrum, Louis Vuitton chose to highlight the face with ultra-slicked back styles using gels to give a forceful look, while Mary Katrantzou chose to slick back just the fringe either in a single forehead curl or a full-on curtain. Tommy Hilfiger and Alexander McQueen indulged in some serious hair bling to amp up the look. Jewels, flower clips, shiny crowns and headpieces of all sorts seemed to have sprung straight from your grandma’s costume jewelry drawer. Expect to see a lot of this as the season moves ever closer to holiday time. A new hairstyle is a great way to start the season, and it’s also a great way to make the transition from summer.
