Hairstyle Trends for the Cool Seasons

November 9 2016

You did it – you made the transition to fall and are sporting your best sweaters and boots. Good for you! Now it’s time to think about updating your hairstyle for the colder weather, too. Does this seem like a bridge too far when we’re racing headlong into the holiday rush? No worries. The beauty and fashion editors at Vogue Paris have compiled a list from the European runways to help you get started.

To keep life simple, embrace the “less is more” mantra. Long hair looks simple and elegant when pulled into a low pony with a simple black tie. A classic riff on it is to wrap it into a bun or a twist. It can be low and loose, or high, tight and tidy depending upon your mood. Shorter hair can opt for the wet look with ultra-slicked back hair that easily makes the transition from day to night.

For a dramatic 80?s throwback, opt for a crimp. You can go for a full head or just a few loose strands. It will give you a ton of volume and texture. For the next step into the decade, continue on with a retro ultra-voluminous ‘do with some backcombing or tons of tiny curls.

Fringe is also on display this season for hair of any length. Baby bangs, blunt bangs that skim the eyebrows and face framing textured fringe are all the rage. Match them to your style – blunt and bobbed, or textured shag. You can even slick them back into finger waves or face-framing curtains.
