When it comes to updating your look for fall, you're going to want a good haircut and style that's easy to maintain, can handle the cooler air, and won't look out of place with your autumn wardrobe. Think less blonde surfer locks and more rugged styles here. Autumn hair colors and cuts should transition your look from laid back to professional effortlessly and without much fuss.

Short cuts:

The Fringe. When styled correctly, the fringe haircut can really add some texture and dimension to your hair. One of the best things about this hairstyle is its versatility; you don't have to keep it styled the same way every single day, and you can play around with different looks and make it work for you. If your hair is on the thin side this might not be the cut for you, as it works best when the hair is more full. Make it your own by texturising it and working it into a heavy, forward fringe, or keep it pushed to the side for a messy finish.

The Military. Sometimes you'd rather just eat your breakfast and get dressed in the morning without having to fuss with your hair first. If that's the case, this might be the haircut for you. It's a bit striking, but you're still left with enough hair so that it doesn't look like a total buzz cut. There are a few variations of this haircut, but the general look is shaved sides and a short top, with minimal texture worked in. A hint of stubble- or a beard- can help balance it out and keep you from looking too much like a fresh recruit.

Long hair:

The Man bun. Perhaps a bit controversial, the man bun remains a very popular style for men who still love long hair. If you're careful with how you style it, there are ways you can make a man bun work for you. The number one rule is to keep it messy and unstructured to give it an effortless, relaxed finish. Another way to ensure your man bun looks the best it possibly can is to use your beard as a balancing tool. A beard or some stubble will keep it grounded and masculine.

Chin/Shoulder Length. If you prefer a style that doesn’t involve hair ties but still offers a longer look, this just might be for you. This length tends to work best for people with textured or curly hair, as it helps create some softness to the look, and keeps your hair appearing more natural and relaxed. Anything too straight or thin can fall flat against your face, so if your hair is lacking in volume, try using some hair spray or hair wax to liven it up a little.
