Tips to Protect and Nourish Your Hair

April 24 2018

There are many things that can affect the health of your hair such as environmental factors, the food you eat, the products you use, as well as how you treat your hair. While our stylists can give you direction on the best products to use, there are also some things you can do at home to keep your hair looking healthy and shiny.

Keep It Cold
You may have heard this before but have been ignoring this suggestion since it’s been so cold out. However, since it’s getting warmer and summer is on its way, it should be easier to heed our advice. Rinsing your hair with cold water is great for your hair. It seals in all the moisture and nutrients that your shampoo and conditioner offer.

Healthy Eating
You’ll want to be sure to get enough iron, protein, vitamin C, and Vitamin A to help promote healthy, strong hair. Adding some of these superfoods into your daily diet can help add those vitamins while giving your hair extra strength. Foods like avocado, nuts, seeds, carrots, oranges, whole grains, leafy greens, and eggs are all beneficial.

Protect Your Hair
If you’re in an environment where you’re exposed to lots of sun, wind, and rain, you’ll want to protect your hair and scalp. Wearing a hat, or using an umbrella, will help your hair from being exposed to too much sun. It will also protect your scalp from forming a buildup of dirt. Dirt can dry out your hair and scalp, and possibly lead to infections on your scalp.

Invest in Good Hair Products
When using hair products, be sure to ask your stylist which is best for your hair type. Using the best products specifically made for your hair type can give your hair the protection and boost it needs to be healthy.
